Ottie Games helps people make personalized party games. This page explains, in plain language, what we collect, why, who sees it, and how to get it deleted. We collect as little as we can.
What we collect
From the host (the person planning the party):
- Your first name (or whatever name you enter) and the party details: name, date, time, place, message and look.
- Optional fun facts about you, only if you choose the “How well do you know the host?” game.
- A small cookie in your browser that proves you are the organizer of that party (see Cookies).
From guests:
- The name they type, their RSVP (going, maybe, can't make it), how many extra people are coming, and their short answers to the party questions.
If the host runs a gift exchange (Secret Santa):
- The names the host enters, who each person is matched with, and any gift ideas a participant chooses to type. Each person gets a private link; the host can see who has opened their link but not who drew whom.
We do not ask for email addresses, phone numbers, addresses, birthdays or account passwords, and there are no accounts. Please don't type sensitive personal information into answers.
How we use it
- To show the invitation and collect RSVPs.
- To write the party games and printable sheets.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse (for example, limiting how fast one network can submit forms).
We don't sell personal information, and we don't use it for advertising.
Who can see it
- The host sees guest names, RSVPs, and, once games are generated, the answers that appear in them.
- Other guests may see a guest's answer inside a printed or shown game (for example “Who Said It?”). The form tells guests this before they submit.
- Our service providers, who process data only to run the service:
- Website hosting (Vercel) and our database (Supabase).
- Payments (Stripe): if you buy directly, Stripe takes your payment details on its own page. We never see or store your card. Stripe tells us your email address and what you bought.
- Email (Resend), only to send you your order link, if we have turned that on.
- An AI provider (Anthropic): guest names, answers and, if used, host fun facts are sent to Anthropic's API to write the game content. Names and answers are the only guest data sent.
If you buy from us
We keep a record of each order: the email address you gave at checkout, what you bought, the amount, the date and a private link to your downloads and access codes. We keep it so you can get back to your purchase, and to handle refunds, support and tax records. We don't use it for advertising or sell it. Ask us at hello@ottiegames.com and we'll delete it, except what the law requires us to keep for our accounts.
How long we keep it
Party data is deleted automatically 30 days after the party date (90 days after creation if no date was set). That includes every guest's name and answers and all generated games. The host can delete a party and all its guest data at any time from the dashboard.
Your choices
- Hosts can remove any single guest, or the whole party, from the dashboard.
- A guest who wants their answers removed can ask the host, or email us at hello@ottiegames.com with the party link and the name they used.
- You can ask us what we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, at the same address.
Children
Ottie Games is for adults planning parties and is not directed at children under 13. If a child takes part, a parent or guardian should enter the answers for them (the host can do this with “Add a guest”) and keep them to harmless fun facts.
Cookies and tracking
We use one functional cookie to recognise the organizer of a party; it is not used for tracking. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. To understand how the service is used, we keep anonymous daily totals (for example, how many parties were created today). These contain no names, IP addresses or other identifiers, and nothing is shared with advertising or analytics companies. We also keep a short log of technical errors (a message and the page type, never names, answers or private links) for 30 days so we can fix problems. The organizer also sees how many times the invite page was opened, a plain count that stores nothing about the visitor. If you unlock a game pack with an access code, we keep the code with your workspace to check your purchase; the pack has no guest data. If the host runs a live phone game, the nicknames players type and their answers are kept only for that game and removed within a day (or immediately if the party is deleted). If the host sends us after-party feedback, we store the rating, any comment they type, the occasion, which games were used and a rough guest-count range for up to 12 months. It is not linked to the party, the host or any guest. Our hosting provider may process your IP address briefly to deliver the site and protect it from abuse; we don't store it with party data.
Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections, the database can only be reached by our servers, and organizer pages are protected by a private key. No system is perfectly secure, so please share only what you're comfortable sharing.
Changes and contact
